FAQ
Contact Lenses
Do you sell occlusion lenses?
We offer a soft contact lens coloured for occlusion. Our soft contact lens is called ML Soft and is usually chosen in the material ML 75 and replaced every 6 months. The lens is customised, as you fully choose the parameters, i.e. radius and diameter are chosen in according with eye measurements. We can help you with recommendations if you provide us with K-values and HVID, or refer to a previous contact lens.
Colour options; opaque black or Iris print (colour with an iris pattern to mimic the natural iris). Send us a photo of the eye if you want the colour to match the patient’s eye colour. (Note: Final appearance of a coloured contact lens will not look exactly the same as the iris of the eye)
There is no exchange guarantee on custom-coloured lenses, but an uncoloured lens can be ordered first for fit and function assessment.
Question about coloured lenses:
We are happy to help with an iris-coloured lens, however, we do not offer monthly disposable lenses. The contact lenses we colour are 6-month lenses in the lens material ML Soft 75 or ML Soft 65 (65 has a slightly lower Dk value). The lens is customised, as you fully choose the parameters, i.e. radius and diameter are chosen in according with eye measurements. We can help you with recommendations if you provide us with K-values and HVID, or refer to a previous contact lens.
Iris colour; colour without a pattern, e.g. blue or grey to hide the discolouration of the iris seen on the eye, to reduce light sensitivity, or for pure cosmetic reasons.
Iris Print ; Colour with an iris pattern. We colour to mimic the eye colour based on a photo of the eye. (Note: Final appearance of a coloured contact lens will not look exactly the same as the iris of the eye)
The choice of colour may depend on the reason for wanting the colour. Is there vision in the eye? Is the customer sensitive to light?
There is warranty exchange guarantee available as an add-on, on the standard iris coloured lenses but not on custom-coloured lenses, but an uncoloured lens can be ordered first for fit and function assessment.
Are contact lenses available with prism correction?
We offer our ML Soft (3-6 month replacement lens) that can be ordered with prism correction (none of our other contact lenses can be ordered with prism correction).
However, it is only possible to order prism in base down direction and max 2.0 prd.
The lens is customised, as you fully choose the parameters, i.e. radius and diameter are chosen in according with eye measurements. We can help you with recommendations if you provide us with K-values and HVID, or refer to a previous contact lens.
What is the difference between Menicare Plus and Pure?
Menicare Pure and Menicon Plus are lens solutions that work well for cleaning, disinfecting and storing rigid contact lenses (corneal or scleral). They contain different active substances.
Menicare Pure is a newer product, developed later than Menicare Plus, with different preservatives than those found in Menicare Plus.
Menicare Pure contains:
ε-Polylysine
Vitamin C glucoside
Hyaluronic acid
ε-Polylysine is a natural homopolymer of the amino acid L-lysine and therefore has a lower risk of toxic reaction compared to other all-in-one liquids for stable lenses. The fluid has very good antimicrobial properties.
Hyaluronic acid gives the fluid a great ability to retain moisture. The liquid also contains vitamin C.
Hyaluronic acid possesses an excellent ability to retain moisture and has a high affinity to the mucin layer on the corneal epithelium therefore it can support corneal epithelial repair
Menicare Plus contains:
Polyhexamethylene Biguanide
Poloxamer
Hypromellose
Menicare Plus contains HYPROMELLOSE which increases the wettability of MeniCare Plus, facilitating an even distribution of the tear film over the lens surface.
Both are approved for use on Hydra-peg lenses.
You can read more on the Menicon website:
MeniCare Pure | Menicon Co.
How long does the Menicare solution last?
It all depends on how you use the lens solution, how much you rinse and rub, and which case you store the lenses in. You can expect a 250 ml bottle of Menicare to last about 1-2 months, but this depends on the type of lens and how the solution is used.
The shelf life is 3 months from opening the bottle.
Which lens solution is recommended for Multilens ML Soft contact lenses?
Everclean Plus is an excellent choice for ML Soft (and it works with all the contact lenses we sell) .It also works well if the lens is coloured.
Which lens solution is recommended for a coloured ML Soft?
We recommend Everclean Plus. It also works well with another hydrogen peroxide solution or a lens solution for soft contact lenses.
IMPORTANT! A lens that is coloured with a white backside cannot tolerate EDTA and therefore only hydrogen peroxide solution should be used for these lenses.
